Instruction and Assessment

The Office of Instruction and Assessment works in partnership with students, families, staff, and the community to support high-quality learning experiences for all students. Guided by the Fulton City School District’s Strategic Coherence Plan, our work focuses on creating strong systems, positive learning environments, and meaningful opportunities for student success.
We support our school community by:
- Sharing clear information about Board-approved curriculum and learning expectations from Pre-K through grade 12
- Providing updates and guidance related to New York State and local assessments so families understand how student progress is measured
- Using data thoughtfully to help schools improve instruction and better meet student needs
- Partnering with families and the community through engagement opportunities that strengthen school-home connections
- Supporting school improvement efforts that promote consistency, equity, and continuous growth
Our work also includes leading district initiatives that align with the Strategic Coherence Plan and prepare students for future success, including:
- Building critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Supporting 21st-century learning skills, such as collaboration and communication
- Promoting differentiated instruction to meet the needs of every learner
- Expanding STEM learning opportunities
- Encouraging project-based learning that connects learning to the real world
- Supporting college and career readiness so students are prepared for life beyond graduation
Together, this work ensures that Fulton students are supported academically, socially, and emotionally—every day, in every classroom.
