“Sharon Butler is the definition of a champion. She is a hard worker, persistent and advocates for her student. She has created a bond with the student that she works with that is like no other. She is able to effectively communicate with the team what is going on with her student and how to help the situation. Sharon has had some rough days but she continues to show up and want to be with her student. She has never let those difficult days stop her from wanting what is best for her student. She is a hard worker and keeps anecdotal notes to ensure that the team has the data needed and is fully informed each day. She collaborates with the team and has created bonds with the adults too. She has gone above and beyond this year in working with her student, advocating to change her own schedule to best fit her students needs. Sharon comes to school early to ensure that she is ready when her student gets here and she communicates with the after school program to prepare them to receive her student at the end of the day. The student that she works with is successful mainly because of the support that Sharon is able to give. When she decides to retire, Fulton will be losing an amazing employee...”

When we think of Sharon Butler, we think of caring, trustworthy and hardworking. Sharon spends her days putting everyone else before herself, making sure that the students are taken care of and have the support that they need. She takes students under her wing, supporting them and meeting their needs wherever they are. She accepts them on their good days, their bad days and their hard days. She is a constant in their circle, proving day in and day out that she is one of their biggest supports. Her presence in the classroom is calm and compassionate, a role model of respect. She fits in seamlessly with the group of teachers she works with, quickly becoming part of the team and helping us as much as she helps the students. She is humble and modest in her acceptance of compliments, but we share them anyway to make sure she knows how much she means to us. Her reliability and years of experience make her an asset to any team. She deserves a round of applause to show our appreciation and gratitude for being a student advocate and champion in our district...”

“Sharon has been with my daughter for the last 3 years. Change is hard for her and with Sharon she is doing things we never thought she would do. My momma heart is at ease during the school day because I know how much Sharon cares for her. She is always there behind her cheering her on with school work and tests and is there for her when she needs an ear to vent too. Im not sure how I could manage sending her to school if Sharon wasn't with her...”

Sharon has been my daughter’s 1 on 1 aide for the last 3 years. She has helped her so much and also when my daughter doesn't need help will help other kids in the class. She is always there to help her focus, calm down and to be her go to person when Addy needs a break. Addy is not always an easy child to deal with but Sharon never gives up on her. Every day with Sharon is a clean slate for Addy and we know retirement is coming for Sharon and Addy is already upset. I could not imagine a better person to be with my daughter and are forever grateful for all Sharon does for Addy and the other children. Thank you Sharon from the bottom of my heart!!!”

“I am a senior at G. Ray Bodley High School. I love the Fulton community and have lived here my whole life. I have had many great teachers and memories because of them that I will cherish forever. Teachers I think can be overlooked in our community and I think they have one of the hardest jobs of all time. I want to thank all of my teachers for the love they have given me and the life lessons I have learned, but especially Elizabeth Kent.

Mrs. Kent has always made me feel welcome in her class. She was my 11th grade economics teacher and she was one of the most involved teachers I have ever had. When she walked in the classroom she always had a smile on her face and never failed to be happy even if she was having a bad day. She was always excited to teach the topic she had planned for us that day which made me want to be involved more. It is easy to get lost or bored when a teacher isn’t really involved but Mrs.Kent always was and still is. She always had us put our technology away and try to stay focused and it was like opening a great book. Once you were invested in the topic you were invested and no other teacher has made me feel that way.

Economics is a class that teaches you about so many real life situations and Mrs. Kent would bring in her own personal experiences (which she didn’t have to do) to help us understand more and it always did. She wanted every kid to succeed and still does. Not a single kid was ever overlooked in her class and her kindness to everyone was always the cherry on top. She is never aggressive in her tone and gives every kid what they need to accomplish greatness. She takes pride in what she does and believes that every kid should be given a chance no matter who they are. Mrs. Kent goes the extra mile to brighten your day like giving you a granola bar if you're always hungry (like me), giving up her heater when other kids are cold or complimenting you when you look nice.

Mrs. Kent has impacted my life in a way like no other teacher has and now I am a senior, getting ready for the real world. I go see Mrs. Kent every day and she still gives me new life advice that I will take with me to college pretty soon. She is my therapist and my light in the school. She makes me happy everyday and is not only a great teacher but so many other things outside of it, like a great mom. I don’t know how she juggles everything she has going on with her life but I do know she does an amazing job at it. I aspire to be at least half of the person Mrs.Kent is when I am older. Being a teacher is hard but she truely is great at it and I wish I could write ten more essays about her because she deserves it. She has impacted my life for the better and for that I don’t know how I can ever repay her but hopefully give her the chance at being a Fulton School Champion.

Thank you...”

“Mr. Anderson has, on countless occasions, gone above and beyond for our students and staff. He is often found in the cafeteria with student helpers, fostering student sense of service and accountability. He has also taken his own time to help our sixth grade team with everything from fundraising, to chaperoning, to feeding the class pet over summer break. Mr. Anderson is a beloved member of our team, and makes our students feel loved and welcomed in turn. He even participates in our school spirit weeks. Our students know and love Mr. Anderson, and our team is incredibly grateful for him. We love you Mr. Anderson...”
