Monthly news and updates from the desk of the Superintendent

Dear Fulton City School District Families,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you and your family to the 2026-2027 school year! I hope your summer has been filled with opportunities to relax, spend time with family and friends and create lasting memories. As we begin another school year together, I am excited about the opportunities that lie ahead for our students, staff and school community.

Throughout the summer, our dedicated faculty and staff have been hard at work preparing for the return of our students. Many teachers have participated in curriculum writing, professional learning opportunities and our summer instructional programs to strengthen their practice and enhance the learning experiences we provide throughout the school year. At the same time, our facilities and maintenance teams have been working diligently to ensure that our schools and grounds are safe, welcoming and ready for another successful year of teaching and learning.

The first day of school for students is Tuesday, September 8, 2026. Please visit the district website and review communications from your child's school for important information regarding opening day schedules, transportation and other building-specific procedures.

As a district, we remain steadfast in our commitment to providing every student with a safe, welcoming and engaging learning environment where they can reach their fullest potential. This year, we will continue to strengthen the systems that support student learning across all of our schools. Our teachers will be working together through structured collaboration to share ideas, analyze student learning and ensure that every child receives high-quality instruction regardless of their grade level or school. While much of this collaborative work has been happening for years, we are continuing to strengthen and align these practices across the district so that every student benefits from consistent, high-quality educational experiences.

The partnership between home and school is one of the greatest factors in a child's success. We encourage parents, guardians and family members to remain actively involved throughout the school year by attending school events, communicating regularly with teachers, and participating in opportunities to engage with our schools. Together, we can provide the encouragement, support and high expectations that help every student thrive.

Thank you for your continued trust, support and partnership with the Fulton City School District. We are honored to educate your children and look forward to a school year filled with growth, achievement and memorable experiences for every student.

I wish all of our students, families and staff a safe, successful and rewarding 2026-2027 school year!

FCSD SOARS

FCSD students and staff will work together to SOAR in the classroom and beyond. Our Red Dragons will be able to show:

  • SELF CONTROL: Red Dragons show self-control by making thoughtful choices -- even when it’s hard. Whether it’s staying calm during a disagreement or waiting their turn, Fulton students rise above challenges with focus and maturity.

  • ON-TASK BEHAVIOR: Fulton Red Dragons stay on-task by staying focused and giving their best effort during learning time. They avoid distractions, follow directions, and keep their minds set on reaching their goals—showing the true determination of a Red Dragon.

  • ACHIEVEMENT: Achievement for a Red Dragon means setting goals and working hard to reach them. Whether it's mastering a new math skill or helping a classmate, Fulton students celebrate progress and push themselves to be their best.

  • RESPECT: Red Dragons lead with respect by treating everyone—classmates, teachers, and themselves—with kindness and dignity. In the Fulton City School District, respect fuels a positive, inclusive environment where all can thrive.
